Mountain Sheep in K Country

I had the pleasure of driving out to Canmore the other day. It was a gorgeous day – we’re in the middle of a chinook so it’s been warm and really windy! Makes for some gorgeous scenery with the sunrises and sunsets and the clouds. On the way home I took a quick detour down Highway 40 in Kananaskis until I got to Mt Lorette Ponds – about 20 mins.  To my utter pleasure and amazement about halfway there, on the side of the road, were 4 mountain sheep. Two rams and 2 ewes! I was super pumped. I had a long lens with me – a 400mm – and so I was able to get in super close without getting too close – haha! They are really beautiful animals and just watching them for awhile was amazing. They seemed totally unconcerned with me standing about 100 meters away as they pecked away at the grass by the roadside. It was an experience that made my whole day – and the next – haha!
